Setting Up STATIC IP Address on PS3
Step 1:
From the main menu on the PS3, select Settings and click on Network Settings.

Next, select on Internet Connection Settings.
NOTE: If you receive the following message, Click Yes.

On the Select a setting method, select Custom.
Step 4:
Select Wired Connection or Wireless connection (depending on what connection you are using).
Step 5:
Select Auto Detect.
Step 6:
On the IP Address Setting screen, select Manual
Step 7:
Insert the desired IP address that you would like to use. IP address to use would be 192.168.2.50
Leave the Subnet Mask at 255.255.255.0
Default Router IP address should be set to 192.168.2.1

Step 8:
For the Primary DNS and Secondary DNS, you need to go to a Windows computer that's connected to your network (wired of wirelessly). If it's an XP PC, go to and click Run.
In the Run box, type in CMD.
Step 9:
If you are using a Vista PC, go to Start and type CMD in the Start Search box. What that will do is bring up a black box.
Step 10:
In the black box, type ipconfig/all. Now you will see a list of networking information. Scroll until you see DNS Servers. Write them down and return to the PS3. (If there are three listed DNS servers, just write down the first two)

Step 11:
Now fill in the DNS number's you wrote down from your PC. Then hit the right arrow to move to the next screen.
Step 12:
On the MTU page, select Automatic.
Step 13:
On the Proxy Server Page, select Do Not Use.
Step14:
On the UPnP page, select Enabled.
Step 15:
At the Settings List page, press X on your PS3 controller. Now your PS3 has a static IP.
